Benoît de Vitry
Barclays Group Treasurer

Benoît de Vitry is Barclays Group Treasurer. He is responsible for Barclays combined Treasury and Investor Relations function. He is also responsible for the Capital and Liquidity Management Group (CLMG) of Corporate and Investment Banking. Treasury and Investor Relations focuses on the optimisation and strategic management of the scarce resources of capital, balance sheet and liquidity to ensure the stability of Barclays, and to meet the heightened expectations of shareholders, investors, regulators and analysts. CLMG has the broad mandate for the execution of liquidity management, collateral optimisation, conduit, loan capital allocation and the risk management of both loan and derivatives counterparty risk. Mr. de Vitry has additional responsibilities as executive sponsor for the firm-wide cost-saving programme.
Prior to assuming his current position in October 2011, he had been Chief Operating Officer of Corporate & Investment Banking since September 2010.
Previously, he was Head of Global Markets - Trading, Europe and Head of Commodities, Emerging Markets Trading and Client Capital Management at Barclays Capital. Former responsibilities also include being the firm’s executive committee member responsible for Absa Capital, Barclays investment banking unit in South Africa, and a Board Director of Absa Group.
Mr. de Vitry joined Barclays Capital in 2000 as a Managing Director and Head of Commodities. Prior to joining Barclays Capital, Mr. de Vitry was at CIBC in New York where he was a Managing Director and Head of Commodities from 1996 to 2000. From 1993 to 1996 he was a Director in Global Commodity Derivatives at Merrill Lynch in London and New York. He began his career with Banque Paribas in 1987 in Los Angeles and then New York.
Mr. de Vitry holds an MS from M.I.T. and a diplôme d’ingénieur de l’Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. He was appointed Vice Chairman of AFME (Association for Financial Markets in Europe) in 2009. From 2004 to 2008, he was a board member of ISDA (the International Swaps and Derivatives Association).
He is married with five children.
