Product Controller
Product Controllers are team players who work together to support the production, analysis and reporting of the firm’s finances, including revenue, new products independent valuations and expenditures. In regular contact with more or less every part of the business, they have an in-depth understanding of the organisation and its various products, as well as a strong knowledge of the financial markets and local regulatory requirements. Commended for their excellent communication skills and ability to work in partnership with colleagues worldwide, our product controllers are fast-thinking advisors to the Front Office, efficient executors and able to meet rigorous deadlines in a controlled manner.
Knowledge and skills required
•Able to prepare, analyse and reconcile a daily P&L and balance sheet and provide independent valuations and controls
•Understanding of the financial markets and the firm’s products, and able to apply key concepts during evaluation activities
•Excellent control awareness and ability to enforce the control environment, escalating issues as required
•Structured approach to problem solving and implementing practical solutions
•Excellent communicator and able to liaise and collaborate extensively with other areas of the firm
•Desire to provide quality, trusted advice to internal clients
•Ability to meet regular, rigorous deadlines
Financial Control
Responsible for the preparation of statutory, regulatory, tax and management reports, our Financial Controllers are experts in their field who ensure our firm’s business activities adhere to regulatory requirements worldwide. Their primary objective is to control the integrity of the firm’s financial statements by providing a robust, global control framework, and senior management with timely and accurate risk information. They collaborate closely with the firm’s business areas, interacting with colleagues from across divisions and geographies. They are innovative, focusing on new ways of adding value, and execute a consistent and timely service to stakeholders.
Knowledge and skills required
•In-depth understanding of the organisation and the investment banking industry
•Strong knowledge of financial accounting disciplines and regulatory requirements
•Able to establish and maintain a strong control environment, escalating issues as required

Financial Decision Support
The firm’s senior management team depends on the essential financial information provided to them by Finance's FDS team. This significant information helps them to make well-considered and effective decisions, which drives the firm forward to on-going success. FDS members are empowered to provide insightful, accurate analysis and commentary on our firm’s global financial performance, including revenues, expenditure, balance sheet and client franchise. To fulfil their valuable responsibilities effectively, FDS members have impressible business, financial markets and competitive positioning knowledge, supported by their ability to apply these expertise appropriately, delivering quality advice and business support to internal clients.

Tax Professional
A Tax professional at Barclays Capital manages tax risk and provides tax advice, compliance and transfer pricing support to the firm’s Front Office and support functions. Their specialist expertise enables them to build strong, trusted relationships with individuals across the firm and local tax authorities. They are empowered to develop and implement practical tax solutions for the firm and a critical part of their role is to keep up to date on existing tax laws and practices.
Knowledge and skills required
•In-depth understanding of the investment banking industry and the organisational structure
•Understanding of various financial products and able to apply the appropriate tax treatment on products
•Applies strict adherence to tax principles and complies with governance, compliance, risk policies and procedures
•Works well as part of a team and maintains good working relations with team members, internal stakeholders and local tax authorities
